If I Had a Million Dollars

I feel like we’re stating the obvious here when we say prices have continued to go up, and it can put a strain on any normal family, household, or small business. And we get it! We’re a small business ourselves!
So let’s spend a moment talking about budgeting. No, we aren’t going to have the solutions for you, but before you say goodbye to that kitchen remodel, let’s just think ahead a little bit.
A couple of things you want to consider when you’re looking at home/business improvement projects:
Urgency: Is something actively falling apart, or is it a “nice to have?” Do you need something added, fixed, finished, or removed before a certain date? (Think: kid moving back home, hosting the holidays, etc.)
Cost: Is it small enough that you can account for it right now, like a single bookshelf or a room repainted? Or do you need to save for it, like entirely new countertops and cabinets in a kitchen?
Note: if it is expensive and urgent, consider how you will cover that, like a loan or an interest-free credit card.
Timeline: We live in WNY, so saying you want to repaint the outside of your house doesn’t make sense for January. Similarly, if you need your kitchen to cook the Thanksgiving turkey, it probably isn’t a good time to start the project in mid-November.
Non-Negotiables: Are you dead set on a yellow bedroom and waterproof floors? Then don’t settle for anything less! But maybe you don’t care what the molding looks like, so you can be flexible in convenience and price there.
There are probably other things that you need to consider when thinking about an improvement project, but we think these are the big ones. You may find other factors are more personal to you, but that doesn’t make them any less important.
Whether you tackle something yourself, or you want to give us a call, hopefully you’re more prepared now. And who doesn’t love that?
