We are problem solvers

Last week, a friend asked us what we were good at so they could talk us up to people. Now, first of all, that's a good friend and we appreciate it. It is nice to know our people believe in us and are advocating for us.
We thought about it for a moment, deciding what to tell them. We kept it simple so they could share it in the parent groups on Facebook and in the WhatsApp group for the classroom this year.
"We're good at the normal things - drywall, painting, installing floors. You know."
"Ok, cool."
But that didn't feel like enough. It doesn't describe us well enough. I mean, we are good at those things, and that is a large part of what we do, but it isn't all of it. So I tried again.
"Well, we love a challenge. We are good at problem solving. If you come to us with a problem, we're going to solve it for you. And if you come to us with a space that needs to work better for you, we're going to dream that up with you. Yeah, I think that's it. We'll solve your issue, and we'll make your house work for you."
Our friend smiled. "That's what I would have said, too."
Again, it's great to have people that will talk about you in rooms when you're not there. And it is reassuring that they already know your strengths and just want to confirm what to tell the Chat. And it is great that we were forced to think about, no matter how momentary, what it is we are good at and what we like.
How lucky are we?
