Deck Season

What a winter.

As we sit here right now, at the end of April, the weather today was perfect. The sun was out the whole day, and the high temperature was a little over 70. The whole neighborhood was mowing their lawn, walking their dogs, or forcing their children to get outside and play. Don't you love the sounds of Spring? A kid running over their mom's foot in the Power Wheels car. Nothing better.

If you're in WNY like we are, or really anywhere across the WNY/FLX/CNY area of New York State, then you know the winter was brutal. February was cold and dreary, and the days felt like we might never see the sun again. We hit record low temperatures. Even April was a bit of a slog. We got so. much. rain.

But we are done with that!

Well, mentally we're done with that. We would never go so far as to tell Mother Nature what to do, but maybe just try to convince her to look forward.

We've worked on a handful of decks recently - staining, power washing, rebuilding - so it has us longing to take advantage of our own. The picnic table, close to the grill, is begging to be wiped off and used. The hammock is longing to be put back up. The flowers are all starting to wake up, shaking off the last of their winter blues. Tulips, lilacs, and daffodils also all soaking in the sun.

We are hurtling towards the summer solstice, and we hope you love your deck. If you don't have a deck, hopefully you have some kind of outside space you love. Maybe a patio, a balcony, or even just a patch of grass. We firmly believe that WNY is a great place to enjoy summer, and it's because we appreciate them after our long winters.
